A Birthday in the Hundred Acre Woods

About a month ago our little Sweet Pea turned three years old. She wanted a Winnie the Pooh party. With the help of some excited older siblings, we had such a fun time putting together this party set in the Hundred Acre Wood. This past year you brought such joy and sweetness to our family. We are so excited for another year of watching you grow.

Happy Birthday Sweet Pea

This pretty much says it all for us about you...

"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart."
- A.A. Milne

So I made you your own little cake saying just so

These are some of the pictures, please forgive the photo quality. To make my life easier, I am now relying solely on my iphone for a camera and in all honestly I am a horrible photographer.

Food

honeycomb snacks (Honeycomb cereal)

Eeyore's O's (honey nut Cheerios)

honey roasted nuts

Tigger tails (cheese puffs)

Veggies from Rabbit's garden

Pooh's pretzel's (honey mustard pretzel bites)

Owl's honey cakes (honey applesauce bread)

Kanga & Roo's honey joys

Christopher Robin's ham and honey biscuits

Honeydew juice

Pooh Toast

Cake

The cake is Winnie the Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. It is a moist yellow cake (my favorite yellow cake recipe ever) with a homemade buttercream frosting.

Buttercream Frosting

1 cup unsalted softened butter
3-4 cups confectioners sugar
1/4 teaspoon table salt
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
up to 4 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
Beat butter for a few minutes with a mixer with the paddle attachment on medium speed.
Add 3 cups of powdered sugar and mix. Add vanilla extract, salt, and 2-3 tablespoons of milk and beat for 3 minutes. Add remaining sugar and milk for desired thickness.

 Decorations

The colors were pale pink and yellow with an emphasis on the A.A. Milne's precious Pooh quotes.

When we first came up with this party, Pumpkin and Peaches wanted to draw giant Hundred Acre Wood. So we got out our giant paper roll and I sketched the rough drawing and they spent a whole afternoon while Sweet Pea was napping to color it in. It was so wonderful to watch them spend so much time making her party extra special.

I always set out a few frames with the party invitation, a recent picture and a favorite baby picture. I put their baby book out.

There was a little table with Winnie the Pooh and friends coloring pages.

Someday found this spot just perfect. Are you really big enough to sit at a kiddy table all by yourself?

Winnie the Pooh little hunny plates and cups (actually the Pooh baby shower themed plates because they were so cute). You can't really see it in this picture but the walls were covered in original Winnie the Pooh artwork by Sweet Pea and her siblings. They were so excited to decorate for their sister. We also hung up these Winnie the Pooh wall decals.

Her present was this giant playland tent. It is enormous, but actually very interchangeable and easily breaks down into a smaller size. The whole things folds up and slides under our couch. Our Hundred Acre Wood poster hung in the background while little giggles could be heard but not seen crawling around and hiding inside.

Happy Birthday. Three looks so cute on you.

I love your...
sweet, high voice
how you turn single syllable words into three or four syllables
when I put you to nap & say just a little nap, and finally realizing you really are tired say "no a big nap"
knock-over hugs
big girl everything
little golden curls and baby blue eyes
when you read books to me
the glee on your face when I tell you some days you can skip nap to play with the big kids
all by myself seat belt, buckles, shoes, socks
made up bedtime songs
you in your life jacket in the canoe in the mountains, I could live in that day forever
the sun setting on your little toes in the tin tub on the beach
our just us park play dates
mommy and me dates
covering you in double blankets every night, your cozy pink one and the Curious George blanket your sibling's made you
feeling you still light enough to be not too far from still being my baby in my arms

 I love you.
